Agreement signed in Hulunbuir to develop world first 240-ton hydrogen fuel cell mining dump truck
On April 24, China Energy Investment Group (China Energy), Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd. (XCMG), Thiko New Energy signed an agreement to jointly develop world first 240-ton mining dump truck. The first delivery is expected by the end of 2024.
China Energy is world largest coal miner. In 2023, it produced 570 million tons coal, 1/6 of total domestic production of China. The company is also a major power generation company-with an installed power capacity of 320 GW, including globally largest 115 GW renewable power capacity. The company generated 1.2 trillion kWh of electricity and supplied heat of 530 million GJ in 2023, accounting for 1/7 and 1/8 of total of China. The 240-ton hydrogen dump truck would be deployed at Bayan Obo Mining District which hosts the largest open coal mine in China.
