100 fuel cell buses were delivered to Zhengzhou, 1,300 FCEVs are in operation
(Zhengzhou, Henan Province) 100 hydrogen fuel cell buses were delivered to Zhengzhou Public Transit on Nov 28th which represents the largest FCEV buses delivery in China so far this year.

Zhengzhou government also announced that currently a FCEV fleet of 423 buses are in operation in Zhengzhou city with a cumulated operation mileage of 43 million km and responsible for 45,852 ton CO2 reduction.

Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan province, has a population of 12.83 million with GDP per capita of Rmb 10,089 ($1,407) in 2022. Zhengzhou is the hub of Henan Hydrogen Demonstration City Cluster which enters the first batch of 5 hydrogen demonstration city clusters in China based on the implementation plan for China’s national hydrogen strategy 2021-2025, other four city clusters are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Hebei.

According to the target of Henan city cluster, it will deploy 5,000 FCEVs by 2025. It seems trying to catch up with the schedule-1,300 has been deployed in Zhengzhou city so far. For hydrogen infrastructure, Zhengzhou government said it has built 19 hydrogen refueling stations and expects the number rises to 30 by the end of 2023 and 100 by 2025.

Beside hydrogen buses, Zhengzhou is operating the largest fleet of environmental management FCEVs in China. It has successively deployed multiple hydrogen fuel cell models.
