Bosch delivered 300 fuel cell powertrain and signed contract to supply another 1,000 to Chinese customers
(Chongqing, China) On Nov 2nd, Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain System (Chongqing) Co., Ltd, a joint venture of Bosch and Qingling Motor, announced the delivery of 300 hydrogen logistic vehicles powered by Bosch’s fuel cell system to Shanxi Meijin Energy, a coal & coke producer and a hydrogen application forerunner in China.

This delivery is part of inauguration ceremony of Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain’s new plant in Chongqing. Qingling Motor is a premium commercial vehicle manufacturer in China. The joint venture was established in 2021 and the construction of this new plant started then. Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain is dedicated to the developing and marketing of fuel cell system for China’s market.

The goal is to pool the technology and market expertise of both partners and contribute to the development of the Chinese fuel cell market and the transformation of the automotive industry. According to the Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Technology Roadmap 2.0 by the China Society of Automotive Engineers (China-SAE), more than one million vehicles with fuel cell drive systems could be registered in China by 2030. The joint venture aims to provide all Chinese vehicle manufacturers with fuel cell systems. The components required for this, such as the fuel cell stack, air compressor with power electronics, and control unit with sensors, come from Bosch, mainly from the plant in Wuxi. Small-scale production will start there from 2021. Also in 2021, a test fleet of 70 Qingling trucks equipped with Bosch's Fuel Cell Power Module hit the road. According to Bosch, this fleet has completed a commercial operation mileage for over 4 million km in China.

According to Bosch, it has localized the innovation and mass production of entire value chain of fuel cell system in China. Now it could provide 76kw、134kw、190kw、300kw hydrogen fuel cell system to Chinese vehicle manufacturers.

On the inauguration ceremony, Bosch Hydrogen Powertrain System also signed contracts with several major customers, including COSCO Shipping and China Postal Express & Logistic to supply another 1,000 FCEV logistic vehicles which is the largest order so far in China market.
