CCTV Spotlight Hydrogen Economy in China
CCTV, China’s top official news media, recently had an exclusive report spotlighting the booming hydrogen applications and hydrogen economy in China. This report, which had a number of on-site investigations and interviews with managements, reveal many key operation data and forecasts for the near term.
The retail hydrogen price in refilling stations in Sichuan province is 27 Rmb/kg ($3.9/kg), making hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks cost competitive to diesel ones.
The purchase price of a hydrogen heavy-duty truck is 1.35 mn RMB before government subsidy ($195,000).
Provincial and municipal government would give 500,000 Rmb each to the hydrogen truck buyer, so if take consideration of subsidy, the real purchase price is about 350,000 Rmb ($51,000), competitive to diesel truck either.
Jiaxing Port will have a fleet of 1,000 hydrogen trucks in operation by 2025.
China can manufacture high-volume, high-pressure hydrogen storage tank domestically.
