China’s first biogas to renewable methanol plant began production
(Daqing, Heilongjiang province) China’s first biogas to renewable methanol plant began production in Petrochina’s Daqing petrochemical complex in October 2024, which marks a milestone that the country’s effort utilizing biogas resources to produce renewable fuel.
The project is jointly developed by Petrochina and another innovation company which dedicated to producing biogas from resources of animal waste and crop residues. The developers also announced the renewable methanol has received ISCC EU certification-also the first one in China.
Daqing, the largest oil and gas exploring base in China, also has excellent biomass resources.
