FTXT demonstrated liquid hydrogen heavy-duty truck in Beijing
(Beijing, China) FTXT Technology showed its first commercial liquid hydrogen heavy-duty truck on the World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference 2023, held at China International Exhibition Center during Sep 20th to 24th.
This HDT, carrying an 80kg liquid hydrogen tank, could travel 1,000 km with full load, and it only takes 10 minutes to refuel the tank. This model has now entered the stage of public road test.

Liquid hydrogen has a significantly higher energy density in relation to volume compared to gaseous hydrogen. As a result, more hydrogen can be carried, which significantly increases the range and enables comparable performance of the vehicle with that of a conventional diesel truck.
However, there are many technical barriers for the application of liquid hydrogen in vehicles. To maintain the energy-dense liquid state, hydrogen requires cold temperatures of negative 400 degrees Fahrenheit, so it needs a tank system capable of storing liquid hydrogen at extremely cold temperatures and delivering it to the fuel cell system at the necessary pressure.
FTXT Technology, established in 2019, is a leading fuel cell stack and system innovator and hydrogen solution provider in China. The company is wholly owned by Greatwall Motor, the 10th largest auto manufacturer in China which sold 1.28 million vehicles and recorded sales of 137.3 billion Rmb in 2022.
FTXT Technology now are able to provide series of hydrogen fuel cell stacks and engines ranging from 80kw to 255kw. The company also provides energy storage and energy to heat solutions.
