Goldwind broke ground for its 500,000 ton per annum green methanol plant in Hinggan league, Inner Mongolia on April 18th. Leaders of local government and Maersk attended the ceremony.

The project, due to begin production from early 2026, has secured offtake from Maersk. On Nov 22th, 2023, Maersk announced it signed landmark green methanol offtake agreement with Goldwind, significantly de-risking its low-emission operations in this decade. According to this offtake agreement, Maersk will procure annual volumes of 500KT green methanol from Goldwind to enable low carbon operations for the first 12 large methanol-enabled Maersk vessels on order.
