How many hydrogen refilling stations will China have by 2025?

China is pushing ahead with its hydrogen industry, including hydrogen stations construction. According to our previous report, there were 218 hydrogen refueling stations in China by 2021. As we all know, 2025 is a crucial point to China’s economy, so how many hydrogen stations will be built in China by 2025? This is of great significance for judging the scale of hydrogen energy utilization in China.

However, China has yet to announce a national hydrogen strategy or set a target for hydrogen stations by 2025. We reviewed all of China's published provincial hydrogen energy strategies and identified each province's goal for hydrogen station construction by 2025, which gives us a roadmap of hydrogen refilling station construction in China by 2025.

China will have at least 1,138 hydrogen refilling stations by the end of 2025, if all provinces follow their own hydrogen strategies and meet their targets. That means a fourfold increase in the number of hydrogen refilling stations compared to 2021.
