Yunnei Power signed a contract to supply 200MW fuel cell power generation system
(Kunming, China)Yunnan Yunnei Power Group, a public listed company loacted in Kunming, Yunnan province, announced on August 10th that it signed a contract to supply 200MW fuel cell power generation system. This project includes two phases to be completed by the end of 2024 and 2025. Once fully operational, it would become the largest fuel cell power generation project in China. The company also revealed the total value of this project would be 1.03 bn Rmb ($141mn).
Yunnan Yunnei Power Group, established in 2014 through restructing, is a large state-own auto parts and machinery manufacturer. The major products include powertrain, new energy auto, and agricultural machinery. It is the first time the company come into burgeoning hydrogen fuel cell market.
Hydrogen storage and power generation is a novelty in China before 2022. However, along with the enthusiasm for the green hydrogen, hydrogen storage and relevant solutions have become popular and emerged on national and provincial hydrogen stategies. According industry news, at least 20 provincial hydrogen strategies outline hydrogen storage as a integrate solution and encourage pilot hydrogen storage and utilization projects.

Last week, China’s 6 central authorities, including Standardization Administration, NDRC, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Emergency Management, and National Energy Administration, jointly issued a guideline, The Formation Guidance for Standard System of Hydrogen Industry, aiming to build an integrate hydrogen standards system by 2025 for China’s booming hydrogen economy. This guidance document also specified the standards need to be established for hydrogen fuel cell power generation. Some industry experts regard it as a signal that China may accelerate the construction of fuel cell power generation projects.
