Hybot unveils 1,000 km range FCEV truck
(Guangdong, China) Hybot, a hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle maker, unveiled its H49 heavy duty truck on Dec 12.
It is the world's first heavy duty truck that can run for over 1,000 km on gaseous hydrogen, said the Guangdong province-based company.
Hybot said the H49, which has a futuristic design, features innovative breakthroughs in such aspects as energy efficiency, mileage and durability. The curb weight is only 8 tons while the payload reaches 49 ton. For every 100 km road transportation with full load, it only consumes 8 kg hydrogen, according to the company.
Sun Ying, CEO of Hybot, said the company's next-generation model will see its hydrogen consumption to fall to below 7.5 kg per 100 km.
The company has developed a future-oriented architecture which enables such features as over-the-air update, long-distance diagnosis and autonomous driving.
Sun said Hybot will start to deliver the H49 in small numbers from the second half of 2024 and mass production and deliveries will start in 2025.
Several Chinese auto giants have released their FCEVs for long distance logistic transportation this year, including First Auto Group and FTXT, while these two models use liquid hydrogen as solution. Compared with liquid hydrogen, gaseous hydrogen is more practical as no liquid hydrogen refilling stations available in China currently.
